From our garden to yours, when the weather is right.
Once we have dug and counted our stock, you can order listed dahlia tubers, bulbs, rhizomes, and corms. Paid items are reserved for spring 2027 delivery, and your order joins the shipping queue for the USDA growing zone of your delivery ZIP.
How the spring queue works
- Choose your plants and pay securely at checkout. We collect the U.S. delivery address there.
- After payment, we match the delivery ZIP to the 2023 USDA Plant Hardiness Zone list. Your confirmation page shows an order number containing the zone, such as DC-2027-Z7B-XXXXXXXXXXXX.
- Warmer zones are placed in earlier spring waves and colder zones later. Within each wave, orders are worked in the order payment was received.
- Before mailing, we check the weather at our garden, the destination, and along the delivery route. We may hold a shipment if freezing weather threatens it. We will contact you if the plan changes.
These windows are estimates, not guaranteed delivery dates. A USDA hardiness zone describes historical winter lows; it cannot predict this week’s temperature. If your address changes, contact us with your order number before your shipment is prepared.
Live plants, rooted cuttings, and plugs need a separate shipping review. They are not available for online purchase until we confirm they can travel safely.
U.S. shipping rates
Seed-only orders ship for $2 for 1–4 packets, $5 for 5–12 packets, and $7 for 13–20 packets. Seed-only orders of 21 or more packets, and orders containing any other products, ship for $12.99 per order.
